Since its inception in 1980 the conference has been a biannual event in the Nordic tradition, characterized by an open atmosphere that encourages the exchange of ideas between researchers with different research interests in the field of small business research.
The 2010 conference will continue this tradition and welcomes papers in different fields of small business research, including:
· Opportunity seeking behaviour and market creation of SMEs
· Studies of SMEs in a diversified world
· Strategies in SMEs
· Innovation management in small firms
· Theories on serial and habitual entrepreneurs
· The issue of gender in entrepreneurship & small business
· Studies on entrepreneurs/SMEs with high growth potentials
· Methodological frontiers in the study of SMEs
· SMEs in clusters and networks
· SME & Entrepreneurship policy
· Theories of human and social capital in a SME context
The conference programme will feature keynote speeches and paper sessions in the above and other emerging small business and entrepreneurship research fields. Empirical and conceptual papers as well as case studies and methodological papers are welcome.
Doctoral Proposal Conference
The conference offers doctoral students an arena to discuss their research findings with their peers and experienced researchers in their line of research.
The conference will take place on May 19 and the venue will be Hotel Koldingfjord.
· The doctoral proposal conference will be organized and led by:

· Professor Hans Landström, Univeristy of Lund, Sweden
· Associate Professor Urve Venesaar, Tallinn University of Technology
· Dr. Elisabeth Ljunggren, Nordland Research Institute, Norway
Participation in the doctoral proposal conference is included in the conference fee. All doctoral students are invited to join the sessions.
The number of participating doctoral students is limited to 20. Doctoral students interested in presenting their research proposal should send an abstract on one page to the conference secretary Lone Møland Rasmussen (using the conference e-mail: ) by February 10, 2010 .
Please write ‘Nordic Doctoral Proposal Conference 2010’ in the subject line. Notification will be given by February 25, 2010.
Sessions will be organized based on the proposals from the doctoral students. The early registration fee for doctoral students who participate in the doctoral proposal conference will be of only 300 Euro. Deadline for early registration is March 12, 2010.

Hotel reservation
- Until April 12, 2010, 100 hotel rooms are reserved for conference participants. Participants are obligated to book the rooms themselves.
The discounted price for rooms is DKK 995 per night including breakfast buffet.
